Printable Build a Lunchbox Craft

Kids love having their own lunchbox at the beginning of a new school year, which makes this a fun back to school craft idea!

Kids can build their own lunchbox complete with a sandwich, apple, juice box, and more. Just color the pieces, cut them out, and glue everything onto a sheet of paper or construction paper.

This activity works well with back to school themes or nutrition units in preschool or kindergarten.

How to Build Your Own Lunchbox

Supplies Needed

  • Lunchbox craft template
  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • White copy paper or construction paper (optional)

Step 1: Color the pieces

Write your name on the lunchbox. Then, color the lunchbox pieces, sandwich, apple, and juice box with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

Use your favorite colors to create your own lunchbox design.

Step 2: Cut out the pieces

Cut around each piece using the dashed lines to guide you. You can cut closer to the solid lines if you want, but a small white border is totally fine.

Step 3: Pack the lunchbox

Glue the sandwich, apple, and juice box onto the back lunchbox piece. Arrange the food however you like, making sure some of each piece extends above the opening.

Step 4: Finish the lunchbox

Glue the front lunchbox piece over the bottom of the food to make everything look like it’s packed inside.
