Printable Build a Box of Crayons Craft
There’s nothing like opening a fresh box of crayons at the beginning of a new school year, which makes this a fun back to school craft idea!
Kids can build their own box of crayons and decorate it however they like. Just color the pieces, cut them out, and glue everything onto a sheet of paper or construction paper.
This activity works well with back to school or art themes in preschool or kindergarten.

How to Build Your Own Box of Crayons
Supplies Needed
- Box of crayons craft template
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- White copy paper or construction paper (optional)
Step 1: Color the pieces
Color the crayons and both box pieces with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
Choose your favorite color combination.
Step 2: Cut out the pieces
Use the dashed lines to help you cut around each piece.
Step 3: Add the crayons
Glue the crayons across the front of the back box piece. Arrange them side by side with the tips pointing up.
Step 4: Finish your crayon box
Glue the front box piece over the bottom of the crayons to make them look like they’re sitting inside the box.
