How to Build Your Own Backpack

Supplies Needed

  • Backpack craft template
  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • White copy paper or construction paper (optional)

Step 1: Color the pieces

Write your name on the name tag. Then, color all the pieces with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

Use your favorite colors to create your own backpack design.

Step 2: Cut out the pieces

Cut around each piece using the dashed lines as a guide.

It’s fine if there’s a little white space around the edges, but you can cut closer to the solid lines if you want.

Step 3: Add the front pocket

Glue the zipper pocket onto the lower half of the backpack.

Step 4: Finish your backpack

Glue the apple flap onto the top of the backpack.

Then, add one side pocket to each side to finish your craft.
