Astronauts are one of the coolest jobs a kid can dream about!
With this cut-and-paste activity, kids can color the pieces, cut them out, and build their own astronaut, from the helmet down to the boots.
This is a great one to have ready for space themes or community helper units in preschool or kindergarten.

How to Build Your Own Astronaut

Supplies Needed
- Astronaut craft template
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- White copy paper or construction paper (optional)
Step 1: Color the pieces
Color all of the astronaut pieces with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
You can use the colors shown here or come up with your own color combination.
Step 2: Cut out the pieces
Next, cut out all of the pieces.
Don’t worry about cutting perfectly on the lines.
It’s completely fine if there’s a small border around the edges.
Step 3: Start with the backpack and legs
Start with the astronaut’s backpack.
Then, glue the legs near the bottom so the top overlaps the backpack slightly.

Step 4: Add the body
Glue the astronaut’s body on top of the backpack and legs.
Line it up so the belt overlaps the top of the legs.

Step 5: Add the helmet
Next, glue the helmet so it overlaps the top of the suit and lines up with the top of the backpack straps.

Step 6: Finish your astronaut
Glue the face inside the helmet, and you’re all done!
