Printable Build A Whale Craft
Here’s a fun cut and paste activity to try this summer!
Kids can build their own whale by coloring the pieces, cutting them out, and gluing everything together.
This craft works well with ocean themes you might have coming up in daycare, preschool, or summer camp.
It’s also an easy activity to have ready at home for those hot afternoons when everyone needs a break from playing outside.

How to Build Your Own Whale

Supplies Needed
- Whale craft template
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- White copy paper or construction paper (optional)
Step 1: Color the pieces
Color all of the whale pieces.
Whales are often different shades of blue or gray, but you can use any colors you’d like.
Step 2: Cut out the pieces
Cut out all your pieces.
If you aren’t using a background for your craft, you can skip cutting out the water pieces since they won’t be glued on.
Step 3: Glue the back pieces first
Glue the tail and the bottom water piece to the back of the whale.

Step 4: Finish the whale
Then, glue the fin and the eye.
Use the finished picture on the printable as a guide for where each piece goes.
