Printable Build A Turtle Craft
Turtles are one of those animals kids always love spotting near a pond!
With this cut-and-paste activity, kids can color the pieces, cut them out, and build their own turtle.
This one works great for reptile units, pond themes, or spring themes in preschool or kindergarten.
The printable template needed to make this craft is available in my Etsy shop. Grab it below, or keep reading to see how it’s assembled.

How to Build Your Own Turtle

Supplies Needed
- Turtle craft template
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- White copy paper or construction paper (optional)
Step 1: Color the pieces
Color all of the turtle pieces with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
Real turtles can be green, brown, tan, gray, or olive, but you can use any colors you’d like.
Step 2: Cut out the pieces
Next, cut out all of the pieces.
Don’t worry about cutting perfectly on the lines.
It’s completely fine if there’s a small border around the edges.
Step 3: Assemble your turtle
Glue the head behind the left side of the shell, the legs behind the bottom, and the tail behind the right side.
If you’re using a background, you can glue these pieces directly onto the paper first and then layer the shell over them.
Either way works, but I think it’s easier to glue the pieces to the shell.

Now your turtle is finished!
